Playing Stud Online Poker With Cyndy Violette

In Stud High you have to pay attention to having a decent starting hand, calculating pot odds thoroughly, reading your opponents and finding the right spot for stealing the bring in and the antes. The following example was played against one of the most known female poker players: Cyndy Violette.

The above mentioned poker player was in the similar position many poker players are in during tournaments: she was chip leader in the tournament although she was only in 3rd place. In this case knowing strategy would be very useful.

Unlike normal play, in tournaments there is an ample amount of time in which players are going to wait for premium hands before they get the right cards to start playing. In the impatient explore and discover method poker players will often play ad rent games when they have already gotten a bit of the prize pool. Since the discover method players are getting lower hands more often, poker players are going to steal the blinds and ante’s of other players. This means when we have a good hand we can call for a raise knowing we are going to get teams of players to fold.

This brings another interesting point: the gold digger in all of us likes to know if we have the best hand when we are in a late position and also when we do not have the best hand, but everyone else folds and we take the pot. How to play this is that we should not raise or bet so that the other players will call us with basically any hand. Also when we play at a good position, knowing we will get nice hands we can bluff and semi-bluff rooms out, so they don’t know we are just making a move.

In learning to play this game it is best to stick to the straightforward no limit hold em rules. The biggest mistake made by those players who have learnt to play this way is that they loose all the time they raise in pre-flop or on the flop when they should actually be doing just the opposite.

Be patient and wait for a good hand

Be patient and wait for a good hand, you will be surprised how often this happens in low limit tournaments when the players who raise too much pre-flop or on the flop just call and the rest of the money goes to the next blind.

A perfect example of this we can look at is when you call from the big blind with ace king off suit and miss the flop. If you hit another ace or a king you should maybe slow down a bit on the betting and possibly slow down on the raising as well. By doing this you will be making more money by winning many small pots rather than losing them to players who hit the flop.

If you make a big raise pre-flop going in you will often be called by players as tight or weak. If you have no where near the nuts then going all in may be your best option. If you are called you still have a good chance of getting a free card on the flop or an ace or a king on the turn.

Players who always raise when facing a big bet are referred to as limpers. These types of players usually only come around pre-flop and fold once the flop comes out. This is because if they had a good hand they wouldn’t be backing down.

Always remember if you play poker online you are playing a cash game. The money is important so you should not get carried away with your wins, you are in fact building on your money. Do not forget this.

No matter how tempting it is, you should not gamble with money you cannot afford to lose. This is for the best as you may end up going broke.
